MUSIC 1396 - MUSIC IN SOCIETYMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course will explore critical perspectives on topics such as non-normative music history, queer modes of expression, subcultural music-making, and the implications of mainstream visibility. Along the way, the course will survey some notable lesbian/gay/bisexual/ transgender/queer composers and musicians in both art music and popular music. Course materials include readings, recordings, and possibly musical events and current media.
