HIST 1616 - ANTEBELLUM AMERC 1790-MEXC WARMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This is a course in the history of the United States from the late 1780s through the late 1840s. It will focus on the processes involved in the evolution of the United States from a pre-industrial, relatively traditional society into a more modern, industrializing nation. We will consider topics involving commercial, manufacturing, agricultural and demographic development, changes in gender, social-economic and racial relationships, the creation of partisan politics and an analysis of American expansion.
