After a brief review of the general properties of biomolecules, the cell will be analyzed in terms of macromolecular assemblies and their specific functions. Topics will include discussions on the cell surface and the cell membrane as the reactive interface with the outer world and continue with the internal membrane systems that separate the cytoplasm into functionally distinct zones.
