ANTH 0950 - TRANSCTNL/EXCHG NON-WEST CULTMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Pig feasts in new guinea, bridewealth in East Africa, caste relations in India, the Kula ring in the Trobriand Islands, tribal warfare, and the meaning of money, are only a few examples of the different types and levels of exchange to be found in various cultures around the world. The subject of this course combines both economic and ecological anthropology; the materials reflect this orientation and encourage a holistic and contextual treatment of transactional behaviors.
