HIST 1625 - HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN FRONTIERMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course explores the settlement and development of frontier regions across the continent, emphasizing 19th century experiences. Diverse and distinctive frontier societies emerged from the processes associated with land acquisition, exploration, Indian relations, Westward migration, economic development, social organization, governance, and urbanization. The different and conflicting interpretations of the frontier experience raise important questions and perspectives about the character of American society.
