HCM 0200 - HEALTHCARE ISSUES AND CONCEPTSMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course will provide a current and comprehensive overview of the basic structures and operations of the U.S. Health System. It will explore the historical developments that have shaped the U.S. health care delivery system including the concepts of health and disease and the role of health promotion and disease prevention leading to new trends in how care is delivered and the prospects of the new health care reform efforts. This course will also explore the evolution of healthcare financing and its impact on managed care development, healthcare professional shortages, medical technology and the delivery of inpatient, outpatient and long-term care services. This course will also explore how Health Policy impacts the health and wellness of all populations and the future of healthcare delivery in America.
