IL 1215 - READING IN THE PRIMARY YEARSMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 As one of three courses designed to examine the development of literacy from the earliest years through grade four, this course focuses primarily on the teaching of reading in the early elementary grades. Theories and research are examined, and a variety of instructional practices and materials are presented for teaching children how to read and comprehend the meaning of various types of written text. Included are means of assessment for analyzing children's reading abilities and for differentiating reading instruction based on those analyses.
