HIST 1340 - TOTALITARIANISMMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course explores the nature of totalitarianism in the 20th century (i.e. Hitler's Nazi Germany and Stalin's Soviet Russia). Some of the topics which will be covered will include the political and ideological dimensions of totalitarianism, the cult of the leader, and the totalitarian system of governance, terror, and propaganda. Most importantly, the class will focus on human agency: the ways in which individuals participated in totalitarian regimes as perpetrators, collaborators, resisters, bystanders, and victims.
